Extracurricular Advisory
BCA is an academy within Service High School that includes participation in a BCA Advisory. The goal is to extend student learning outside the classroom in the area of the medical sciences and healthcare. Students are required to spend time outside of school participating in HOSA, job shadowing, service learning, or attending presentations, etc.
Advisory credits are fulfilled as following: 9th and 10th grades- Exploratory activities: volunteering, attending presentations/workshops, reading medical books, etc… 11th grade- Community Service Project- concept, design, execute, and reflect. 12th grade- Capstone project with mentor in the community- job shadow, execute project, present to an audience of industry leaders, parents, and students.
